Tips and Tricks - Windows Vista Part 1
Although Windows has now moved away from Vista and instead moved towards Windows 7, most of you will still be quite happy staying put with Vista - after all, you may have only just made the move a couple of months ago…
But just because you’re working through Vista, do you really know everything you need to in order to get the most out of your computing experience? Computers can do some seriously amazing things - read on to discover what tips and tricks you can put in to practice to get the most from Vista.
Fix-A-Photo
The Photo Gallery in Vista allows you to import and organise your photos in a similar way that iPhoto does on a Mac. As with iPhoto you can also click on the Fix button and play around with the image.
You can crop, remove red-eye and adjust the lighting. The best thing about the Photo Gallery is that you can mess around safe in the knowledge that every photo you decide to mess up, I mean “work on”, is automatically backed up safely so you will never have to worry about ruining precious memories.
Launch A Program
If you think that double clicking on the application that you want to launch is too much of a fuss to simply open Firefox then don’t worry - there is a much faster way!
By simply holding down the Windows key and pressing any number between 1 and 9 you will launch a corresponding program from the Quick Start menu! How easy is that - once you figure out which number is which program you’ll be using the shortcut every time.
Easy Findings
If there is a specific folder that you constantly look for in your document folder, such as “Private Pix Stay Out” or something to that effect for example, then you can simply bring the folder to the forefront and have it readily available at any time.
To do this simply click and drag the desired folder into the Favourite Links pane on the left of the window in Windows Explorer - once this is done you won’t have to go far at all to select the folder of choice.
Laptop Mobility Center
Obviously Laptops are great pieces of kit that allow us to stay portable and mobile - with this trick you can also stay productive! You can easily open up the Mobility Center by holding down the Windows key and then press the X button.
You are then transported to your very own Mobility Center filled with useful information about your laptop’s battery, wireless signal, external displays, blah, blah and more blah…how incredibly helpful is that??
