Customising Your Mac
Macs are beautiful things and always will be - they are built with a little bit of love in mind and will always be able to bring a splash of modern design into your life.
But what do you do if you aren’t exactly satisfied with the appearance of your operating system. Not everyone can be overwhelmed with the way things are once the computer is switched on - luckily with a Mac you don’t have to worry for long.
You can personalise your Mac on your own if you wanted to, to a certain degree, as Macs have always had their users in mind - however, if you want to take the customisation to the next level then you should get hold of one of the following apps to add a bit of a unique spin to your Mac experience.
Magnifique
If anyone out there can remember Shapeshifter for OS X Tiger, then you’ll understand when I say that Magnifique is the Leopard equivalent. The app allows you to quickly and simply change the way you view your OS theme through free themes available from the apps own website.
The app already comes with a tasty array of themes built in and the added bonus of the possibility for downloading other themes until you are satisfied. You can even check out what the theme will look like on your OS quickly and easily so you can pass through the selection quickly to get the look you want.
As you would imagine you also have the opportunity to uninstall themes you don’t like using a single button so the whole process can be totally avoided if you aren’t happy.
TinkerTool
Apple loves us customers so much they’ve hidden tons of settings in the computer that you can get to using TinkerTools - once found you can spend your evenings tweaking and changing your Mac till the cows come home.
With this app you can customise all you like without the worry of destroying your computer beyond redemption as nothing is actually changed in the OS. Anything can be reset so you won’t be stuck with something if you go down the wrong path.
SuperDocker
If you think the dock in Leopard is a bit lame then this is definitely the app for you and your Mac. SuperDocker allows you to customise your dock not only between 2 and 3 dimensions but you can also slap skins on it to give it a bit of life.
SuperDocker even brings you customisational tools you didn’t even know about allowing you to do things with your Mac you didn’t even know were possible - Stacks, iTunes and Safari will never be the same again!
SuperDocker is perfect if you want to take your OS experience to the next level - check it out!
