Big Ben

As we are all aware, or not, Big Ben is celebrating it’s 150th Birthday this year and to celebrate we can now get hold of the Big Ben app on our very own iPhones! How fun…

What does the app do? Of course it tells the time, and that’s it! Not exactly as impressive as the beast of a clock planted firmly in our glorious capital city…after all, the iPhone itself tells the time just fine so what were they thinking making this app?

There is a little more to the app, but not much - you can choose whether to play a tick-tock sound with each passing second along with an hourly chime and a seconds hand which is of course not present on the original tower.

Many are claiming this app absolutely pointless, and they’d be pretty much right…but the Big Ben app isn’t exactly the only pointless app available on the AppStore…these are some of the best, most pointless apps out there;

Virtual Zippo Lighter

You can now pretend to have a pint of beer with iPint and light a fake cigarette with this app! If ever you felt a need to have a Zippo flickering on your iPhone screen then you have to get this app. Granted you’ll be pretty bored after the second flicker of the flame but that’s what pointless apps are all about!

BubbleWrap

We all know the benefits that bubble wrap provides - total relaxation! And now you can always carry a sheet of bubble wrap with you in your pocket for those extra stressful times when you just need to unwind! POP, POP!

Newton’s Cradle

Watch one balls crack into four other balls and the ball on the other side of the pile will fly off, fall back and crack into the other four, over and over again - they say it’s relaxing to watch small balls crack into each other but after a while you’ll just be cursing the slightly awkward physics of the app.

Lightsaber

This app will do absolutely nothing for your life but if you have ever wanted to wield a real lightsaber then this app will bring you one step closer. You can swing your iPhone around and listen to realistic sound effects at the same time - surely one for every Star Wars lover!

Koi Pond

If stress really is your thing then you should get hold of this app - if a Koi Pond sounds too much hassle for your real life then why not get a pond specifically for your iPhone. You don’t have to worry about feeding them and looking after them, you just have to turn the app on and bring on the relaxation.
