G1 - Music Apps

Although the iPhone was created partially as an iPod spin-off, the G1 can play sweet music too you know. Hats off to Apple and the guys who came up with the life-changing iPod collection, they’ve done a great job. But is it time to step aside and allow others to have a pop at the title of Music Legend?

Well, the G1 is here and it’s ready to play some music for you…here are some of the top music apps available for the Smartphone that will allow you to play music;

Music

The name is a little on the nose but Music is a great little music player for your G1. Music is the native music player on the Android operating system and so it can obviously do the trick. You can do everything you would hope to do with Music, select a song by browsing through tracks, artists and songs - you can even use playlists.

Google has made a name for itself for being a king when it comes to searching and they’ve managed to cram in a speedy little search facility in this app which is always useful.

But what else is there out there that wasn’t created by the Google team?

TuneWiki

TuneWiki manages to play all the music you could want while still supplying song lyrics at the same time - imagine karaoke on your G1…bring on the mic! The app is fast acting so you won’t find yourself lost for words.

Everything you could need to play your music can be found in this app - it’s simple and quick and it won’t get in between you and the soothing tunes you’re listening to.

Dog Catcher

If you like podcasts then this app will help you grab them out of the webwaves. Podcasts have been raging on in popularity ever since Ricky Gervais decided to stick his oar in and make the format incredibly popular…

The app will follow along with you and keep up to speed as to where you are so you won’t find yourself at the beginning of the podcast if you decided to take a break from listening - the app is even thinking about your battery so you can set it to download only when it’s plugged in - how thoughtful.

Music to your ears?

So there are just a couple of music apps that you should think about for your G1 - along with them you should look at getting hold of the YouTube app which lets you get hold of content on the YouTube network. You should also grab the Shazam app that lets you know what songs you are listening to by recognising music through the microphone.
