Boosting your computer’s productivity…
Sometimes we want more from our computers – we are no longer in the days when we had to wait for half an hour for our desktop to start up but we still want more than what we are given.
Use the speed that the computer has along with these few simple techniques to boost the productivity of your computer. A tweak here and a tweak there will do great things for your computer…
Manage your start up…
There are so many applications that start up when you turn your computer on – if you were to have a look at what is going on then you would be shocked…you probably won’t even know what half of the start up applications are so why do you need them slowing the computer down?
Stop them from loading at start up and you’ll notice your computer will start up faster and run smoother.
Keyboard shortcuts…
There are loads of shortcuts that you can use to speed up your computing experience – and if you’re lucky enough to have a Mac on your hands then you can practically do anything with your keyboard.
The basics are obviously CTRL+C which allows you to copy something and CTRL+V allows you to paste what you have copied. Have a search around online to find out which other shortcuts you could use and after a time you’ll find that you’ll be zooming around your computer from the keyboard.
Application launcher…
Keeping shortcuts in mind you won’t go far wrong getting hold of an application launcher – you’ll be able to launch applications from the keyboard in a matter of milliseconds…you’ll never go back to your mouse!
Clean your desktop…
A cluttered desktop is doing anyone any favours – get spring cleaning! Get rid of all the files that you don’t use, throw them away or organise them but get rid of them one way or another.
Stay on top of your trash as well – organisation is key to keeping a computer running smoothly. Get rid of unnecessary application icons, files, folders and general clutter and you’ll feel a little cleaner yourself.
Utilise your taskbar…
Save a great amount of time by utilising your taskbar. If there are applications that you love to use then make sure you can find them in your taskbar…you’ll be able to open it faster than you can say “taskbar”…
Go automatic…
Check out the many applications that allow you to automate computer tasks making your life faster and easier. Get hold of an application that switches off your computer at a certain time or puts in into hibernation.
Whatever task you wish to automate there is probably a tool out there waiting to be discovered by you – go out to Google and find it…stop living your life in manual and automate your tasks!
