Speed it up!
Your computer may be slower than a brick but do you know why? There are reasons, you know…
System Start-Up
It is easy to let it slip but often one of the main reasons why your computer might be lagging is because you have too many unnecessary applications opening when the computer starts up.
This will not only slow your computer down but it will also make the whole process of turning your computer on a bit of a drag. These applications can add themselves to a hidden area of the Windows Start-Up system or they will automatically add themselves the Windows Start-Up folder – either way they are slowing your computer down!
Put a stopper to this right now – limit the number of applications that open at start-up and watch your overall system performance boosted as well as your speed boot times.
Spyware
Spyware can worm its way into your computer and apart from spy on you and your private information it will also slow your computer down. They will find a bed in your computer’s Windows Registry and core file system.
You might not be aware that you have a Spyware issue as they tend to install themselves without either your consent or your knowledge. Download the right software to find these malicious applications and get rid of them as soon as possible – if anything you will be keeping your private data private!
Windows Registry
The Windows Registry is the control centre for the entire computer so staying on top of it is vital to the computer’s health, performance and speed. A corrupt and overloaded registry problem can really ruin your computing experience slowing your load time, shut down time and overall performance.
Get spring cleaning and sort out the issues – get rid of anything unnecessary but before you get cracking make sure you know what you’re doing.
Hard Drive
Defragmenting your hard drive is such a simple solution to speeding up your computer yet most people don’t bother. Think about all the years you have had your computer – everyday it has been scattering files all over the place and bits and bobs are here, there and everywhere, which isn’t good for performance.
You can find the defrag option in your hard drive’s properties window and can take some time but it is well worth it! Do it now while you read the last tip!
Uninstalled Programmes
We all download software to give it a try and see whether we like it – however when we have had enough of the software we need to completely uninstall the software otherwise we’re wasting valuable space and speed!
The basic uninstall application that comes with your computer has been known to be unable to completely uninstall every software – the remnants are left in your system registry and need to be deleted!
