LG the least reliable…
A survey has been conducted that shows that some of the most popular names on the market are actually the most likely to let us down – the likes of LG, Sony Ericsson and Samsung handsets have all been revealed to be the most unreliable devices on the market.
The survey, taken on behalf of the website Moneysupermarket.com by Opinium Research, questioned around 2000 mobile phone users in Britain and found some quite shocking results.
34 per cent of LG users found issues with their handsets over the last 12 months alone – astonishing when you think about how much one of these phones costs.
Following closely behind in second place is Sony Ericsson – 33 per cent of their customers have experienced general issues with their handsets over the past year.
These manufacturers are the worst cases in the survey with Samsung following in third place with a quarter of their customers complaining of general issues with their handsets.
Meanwhile holding fourth and fifth place are Nokia and Motorola respectively having 24 and 22 per cent of their customers experiencing upsets with their handsets.
Easy or difficult?
The survey also looked at how mobile handset users dealt with complex devices and found that a third of users preferred simplicity over Smartphone technology.
33 per cent of handset users admitted to simply enjoying the basic handsets that involve voice and texting features – 43 per cent of Nokia users make up part of that third that chose minimalism over complexity.
However the new technologies being made available to the general public haven’t been lost on the under-20s who were the biggest fans of the Smartphone features. 42 per cent of under-20s claimed they were happy to get their hands on the latest features available on handsets.
LG users want technology but can LG supply it?
Funnily enough LG owners were the most likely to be drawn to technology laden handsets which is surprising seeing as the LG handsets that they get their mits on will probably fall to bits according to the survey.
The manager of mobiles at Moneysupermarket.com, James Parker, points out how not everyone is willing to accept the avalanche of technology that is being thrown at them, despite what he phone companies would like to think.
“This survey just goes to show a large number of people don’t want the all singing, all dancing ‘smart phones’. For a lot of people, simplicity is key.
“The fact a significant amount of Nokia owners agree with this sentiment and LG owners want the latest gadgets goes to show which brands suit people best. With so many phones on the market, people should always find a perfect match.”
Have your say…
Have you got an LG phone and have had some annoying difficulties with it that you’d like to get off your chest? Maybe you have an argument for or against the overwhelming technologies that are hitting our palms, evolving on a daily basis?
