Research in Motion, in association with Vodafone, has finally announced the mobile worlds worst kept secret, the Blackberry Storm.
Most people who keep an eye on the world’s technology blogs will be aware of the features that were rumoured to be in the handset. But for those who’ve been living in a cave or under a rock for the last few months, here’s what the storm has been brewing…sorry…
The Storm is a dainty (ish) 110 x 60 x 6.3mm and features a 3.25” touchscreen with a 480×360 resolution. The handset has an HSDPA connection of up to 7.2Mb/s, while working over quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge networks. The device also features GPS.
The most exciting feature of the Storm is the ‘clickable’ touchscreen. Apparently the screen depresses when touched and gives the impression of a physical keyboard. That’s cool.
The Storm’s weakest feature is the weedy 3.2 mega-pixel camera, which would have been great two years ago. The device can also capture video at 30 fps.
The handset features 1GB of built in memory and can handle a Micro SD card of up to 16GB, on which you can store MP3, JPEG and MPEG4 files.
The Storm features a built in web browser, and comes preloaded with applications for uploading images and films to Facebook and YouTube.
The RIM Blackberry Storm is due for release next month, but there is no price been set as of yet.
