Could You Live Without Your Mobile?
As the world continues to go wireless mad many people are now starting to ask the simple question, could you actually survive without your mobile phone? Would be able to function? Would you be able to keep in touch with the latest news?
In reality the mobile phone has quickly become vital for 90% of us who own one, with the remaining 10% often having a phone just for emergencies. Many of us wake up via our mobile phone alarm, keep in touch with work if we are going to be late and go text mad when trying to keep in touch with our friends. Mobile internet is also become more popular as time goes by with more people than ever before logging on for the latest news, views and other services. But what did we do before mobiles arrived?
Life before the mobile was lived at a fraction of the pace in which we live out lives today, people never spoke as much and life on the road could be very boring. The simple mobile has ensured that the 24 hour office has arrived, businesses can operate around the clock and we are all literally a click away. While many people continue to knock the mobile phone industry, and there are good reasons to criticise, the benefits of being available on the move far out weigh any drawbacks.
The truth is that the humble mobile phone has probably been responsible for saving hundreds if not thousands of lives, saving hours and hours of wasted time and contributed enormously to the growing efficiency of the UK business sector.
However, the more we continue to rely upon mobile phones for our daily lives the more we are in the pockets of the major mobile phone networks. Even though the cost of basic phone calls has fallen substantially over the last few years, there are still some pricing anomalies which see that the network providers are able to announce large profits, but then this is maybe the price we pay for improved technology?
