Facebook is the free website for social networking that is made up of several hundreds of individual networks based around the regions, schools and business. The minimal age to join this social networking site is 13. The Facebook is strictly dedicated for connecting the people online; they do not have the extras like classifieds, games, videos, music etc.
The design of the website is straightforward; this has several graphics or the decoration, but they contain few good varieties of networking features.
You have to register for the Facebook with the name, your birthday, your school (only if applicable) and one email address. Once you get registered, you can begin customizing the profile. You could upload videos, news feeds and unlimited photos from the other sources.
We were little concerned of the security of the personal information; when we get registered, one dialog box popped on the screen indicating that this page contained both non secure secure items.
You have to join at least a single network to search or browse for the people. Click on the “Join a Network” link and choose the network based on the school affiliation or your location. Click on the “browse” and the list of members within the new network will be displayed. You can even see the list of groups present within the network.
Once you have found someone who you want to be connected with, see the list of his friends, send him a message, and even invite those friends of his into your network. Share the news feeds, notes and photos. Your friends even can post some comments on the profile.
Only the people present within your network can have the access to the profile, however you can limit the profile and block the individual members.
In their agreement of Terms of Service, the Facebook mentions that they don’t allow the offensive content such as expicit photos and sexually charged language; however at the same time, they even state that it isn’t their responsibility to monitor the content closely present on their website. To encourage the members to report the content that they find offensive, the Facebook offers a link named “report this person” on all the profile pages.
We conducted few test searches for the offensive photos and language; but, we found only one curse word.
The Facebook is one good website for social networking which doesn’t waste the time with the eye candy and extras, so if you are looking for the no–nonsense site with a plenty of features of networking, then Facebook is the site.
For the best social networking website we could find with plenty of networking features and extras,
