The SENA technologies has released The Parani-MSP100– a product that connects the Bluetooth devices from Bluetooth gateway to IP gateway to a Ethernet network of 10/100 Base-T. It supports a connectivity of point to a multi-point to seven points and it transmits the data to management station from the Bluetooth terminal station through TCP/IP at the rate of 723Kbits per second. The connections could be expanded up to the count of 14 using a choicely dongle of USB extension. The Parani-MSP100 assists the profiles that include Dial-up networking, PAN, LAN access and Serial port to keep the Bluetooth devices operating between them easily and smoothly. The profile for Serial allows the support for support for data connections in serial. The profile for LAN access offers the access for network and the profile for Dial-up networking offers the services for modem. The security is dealt through an authentication protocol called RADIUS.
Moreover, the Parani-MSP100 assists several modes of operation including the RS-232, Vertex, Repeater, TCP Client and TCP Server modes. The mode of TCP Server lets the management station to start a connection for TCP to a Bluetooth device that is connected to a Parani-MSP100. In the mode of TCP Client, the Parani-MSP100 takes the data from a serial device and launches a connection for TCP to the management station. A mode like this is very useful in the applications like the readers that read the bar code where a serial device is needed to start the connection. The Parani-MSP100, in the Repeater mode, extends the wireless network range. In the mode of Serial Hub, it behaves as the hub for a communication in point-to-point between two devices of Bluetooth or acts as the interface between a sequence of slave devices and a Bluetooth master. The Parani-MSP100 runs on the Linux operating system embedded in it, with a flash memory to make the up gradation for software an easy thing, and a built-in web interface and a web server for management, remote configuration and quick installation. The Parani-MSP100 arrives with some indicators in LEDs for RJ45, error, status and power connections.
The nominal transmission range is a distance of 150m and through using a patch antenna in option; it can be expanded up to 1000m. This unit is sketched for wireless installations in large-scale particularly in the banking sectors, medical, industrial and retail/pos areas, which are conventionally fitted with connections in serial. This can be employed in a broad range of POS/retail applications that include wireless receipt and payment printers. For instance, a cellular phone can connect to the closet over a link in Parani-MSP100 where you can purchase a ticket. In the similar way, a mobile phone, PDA, or any other device can be utilized to pay for services and goods by making use of links of Bluetooth communication in Parani-MSP100 with the cash register. In the applications in the industrial area, the Parani-MSP100 links the devices like actuators, instruments, sensors other equipment of industry to wireless communications of the Bluetooth.
