Nortel and Urban Wimax have launched a collaboration to prove the technical deliverability of mobile WiMax before the 2008 spectrum auction.
Different companies will be brought together through the collaboration to construct and test the WiMax service. It’ll demonstrate the technology and plans to provide UK with a 4G service through WiMax connectivity.
4G WiMax has greater capabilities in terms of bandwidth and range than WiFi. All of the above also comes with a price less than half of the existing solutions. The huge demand can now be met by service provides as WiMax can provide with fast, secure broadband to use for mobile users. It also would help running bandwidth hungy applications, and would help in providing enterprise business related service on mobile phones.
It would ensure UK’s competitiveness in the global market. This collaboration is to test the WiMax technology with trial customers. Macropolitan has already joined WiMax’s ecosystem. All three of these companies are concentrating at building a rapid network in the UK. Macropolitan would help reduce marketing time for WiMax services.
