Japanese electronics giant Sony Corp has announced the release of new firmware update for the PlayStation Portable device. Firmware Version 3.50 is an eagerly awaited update that allows PSP users to remotely connect to their PlayStation 3 gaming console.
Last week Sony had released PlayStation 3 firmware 1.80, which was supposedly a harbinger to the new feature of wireless connectivity. PSP owners can now remotely access all videos, music, and pictures on their PlayStation 3 through wireless connectivity.
The update includes the following features
* Support for remote play over the Internet in ‘Remote Play’.
* ‘Communication setting’ included in the Remote Play menu.
* ‘RSS Channel Guide’ is now a new feature under ‘RSS Channel’.
Today’s update means PSP users and PS3 owners can also indulge in Remote Play over the Internet. Users will need to adjust their settings according to the bandwidth actually available to them because there are many picture quality settings available through this update.
Users will need to hook their PSP and PS3 together once they download the new update so as to allow for a USB certification process. Today’s upgrade means the PSP has become a consumer oriented (which it always was) as well as controlled device.
